There’s value in working for and with difficult people. They teach us how we want to be by showing us how we don’t want to be. They cause us pain and frustration, which sparks creativity and grows determination.
It’s not easy but if you can learn to manage the emotional highs and lows and frustrations jerks bring up it can become a well-spring of positive things. We learn to communicate better. To collaborate more. To acknowledge the hard work of others. To lead and build a culture that supports and grows everyone in it.
Got a jerk at work? Use it. Learn from them. And keep moving forward. Jerks can’t hold you back for long.
