You are what you eat. Or so the old saying goes. And now it feels like you are what you quarantine. Dark chocolate chips. Red wine. Binge watching Netflix. Injuries. Scones. Smoke all around. Sadness. Not to mention all the actual problems in the world that aren’t going away any faster than Covid is getting a vaccine.
There is no doubt in my mind that this whole godawful situation is leaving a profound mark on all of us. And it will take some time to recover. And for right now we’ve got to do what we need to to survive.
I firmly believe we need to take care of ourselves and each other. But we also have to cut ourselves some slack. 2020 has been a giant flaming ball of shit sailing straight into the global fan and we couldn’t help but get caught in the spray.
What works?
Humor.
Forgiveness.
Goals.
Passion.
Generosity.
Hope.
Scones.
Hang in there. And if you’re feeling insane just know that I do too and you’re not alone. #imascone
Hi Margot! Dark stuff… but thank you for sharing this. I enjoy reading your writing – you are a gifted communicator, always have been. Wishing you well. Things going well here, just cranking out artwork, getting on the water (when it’s not too smoky). Wishing you and Kady all the best in the world!
