Turns out writing a book is not as easy as just writing a book. I’ve written a TON this year though which is awesome. And I’m learning a lot about characters and dialogue and plot. I’m learning how to just shut up and write. How to go off course and come back. How to edit.
My goal is to write a full book or somewhere around 90k words give or take. So far I think I’ve written close to 40k words but not all part of the same story. And that’s ok. 40k words is a lot of words. If you don’t believe me go write a thousand words in one sitting.
The more I write the more I believe I can actually do this. The more I see the connections in what I’ve written and the bigger my repertoire of things I can revisit becomes.
I don’t know what I’m doing. But who cares. It’s hard and fun and daunting and exciting and all the things that creating something all my own should be.
I’m working on a new idea now and with each iteration I feel like I gain confidence and insight. In short I’m finding my voice and that’s pretty cool!
I do feel like I’m neglecting my blog a bit. So I want to set some goals for posting more regularly and make sure I’m still sharing my thoughts here too.
