Sitting on a stone sulking is one way to deal with a problem. Ruminating on what went wrong. Feeling our feels.
But that doesn’t get you anywhere. And isn’t that essentially what all your effort was for? To move you forward? To get somewhere that matters to you?
Sulking and feeling sorry for ourselves might seem justified. And don’t get me wrong your feelings are valid. But things happen for a reason. And every situation good or bad is a chance to reframe how you think about success and forward motion.
Maybe you’re moving sideways. Or diagonally. Not all motion has to be forward to be worthwhile and beneficial. And setbacks can be a blessing if we let them. Turmoil can present an opportunity to capitalize on untapped passion and energy.
Sulking is ok for a moment. And it can even provide some clarity. We release a torrent of complex emotions that suddenly puts everything we’ve been feeling into context. And from that can come, if we let it, our next grand adventure. When we become more of who we want to be in this great big world.
