One thing I have noticed throughout my life is that some people change when they become successful. It’s as though they forget the humble beginnings from which they came and that they weren’t always the best. They take on an air of superiority and treat others as less than. I can’t stand this.
One thing I have tried to maintain throughout my career is humility. I’ve had successes but they have never been in a vacuum. There have been people who have helped me along the way. To take on a self important air of superiority and narcissism would be slapping all of those people in the face.
The other thing I’ve learned is that highs don’t last forever. And when you have a low or a devastating loss you want people there to help support you. A huge ego can alienate others when you may need them the most.
No matter how much you achieve try to stay grounded and remember your roots. Being a positive example for others and a good human is a bigger accomplishment in my opinion.
