This weekend we watched the Blue Angels at the beach. Afterwards as all the boats were headed back north along the lake from the log boom big waves started to come into the shore. The kids started going crazy in the water because waves like that aren’t common on Lake Washington. So I took Lou into the water to jump in them.
It was so fun. We both squealed with delight each time one crashed into us. We were rocked and rolled by the water. He would raise his arms into the air and scream each time. It was such a pure invigorating thing to do with him.
Often in life we battle the waves. But sometimes we should ride them or jump in them and let them rock and roll us. Surrender a bit to the inevitable storms that come upon us. Embrace them instead of fighting them.
This weekend I embraced those waves with Louie and it was wonderful. What other waves can I ride?
