We have several thousand thoughts a day. Surely one of them can make it to the page. It’s absurd if you think about it. The amount we censor ourselves.
Of course not everything we think should be written down. Sometimes there is joy in simply letting thoughts drift into and out if our minds.
But thinking is easy. It happens automatically. Go ahead. Try to stop your thoughts from happening.
But writing is something that has to be done. It requires action to take those thoughts and get them down on the page. It won’t just happen no matter how brilliant or revolutionary an idea.
You’ve got to grab a pen and paper. Or a laptop. Or a chisel and hammer. Its not the words that are stopping you. It’s not a lack of medium. It’s your ability to do nothing.
There is no such thing as writers block. Or not knowing what to write. It’s simply inactivity. You can write anything at any moment. Nothing is stopping you but your own inability to act.
The only reason you don’t fall when you walk is because you keep putting one foot in front of the other. Do that with words. Even if you write nonsense at the beginning. I promise you if you just keeping writing the words will turn into something else. Nothing is stopping you.
