When I was little I used to give my mom “movie star kisses” when I went to bed. I had seen people kissing in movies and thought that’s what you did when you really love some one. It’s not gross like you’re thinking. I basically just have my mom a dry kiss on the mouth but would turn my head from side to side like the movie stars did.
Now my son gives kisses. He knows it’s what you do when you love someone. From such a young age he knows what love is and how to be affectionate. He’s such a sweet boy. I hope he always stays sweet even when he’s grown up.
The power to teach someone to love is an incredible thing. How to treat others. How to be kind. And accepting. And gentle. I hope my son is all of these things though I know there are times when he will need to be tough. The world is just too hard not to know how to be tough from time to time. But for now I love his sweet little kisses and hugs and how loving he is. And that is something to be proud of.
