I asked for a scone cake for my birthday. And that’s what I got. A gorgeous two tiered hand whipped cream and strawberries covered concoction on a cake tower. My wife walked it outside tonight with four candles (one for each decade) ablaze as a few friends sang happy birthday. It was truly wonderful and I feel very lucky to have had such a great day with close friends and family.
I’ve set some goals for myself this year. Blogging every day. Being a good parent and spouse. And I’d like to set another right now. To spend more time with my friends and family. To make the plans and gets the tickets and schedule the time to connect. People have stuck with me for years and years and I am so grateful for their love. And I want to make it a priority to be with them more frequently.
I’m not in kindergarten anymore where making friends is part of growing up. I’ve got some truly wonderful people in my life that I want to actually be in my life.
So that’s my goal. To spend more time with friends. To have dinner or coffee or make a trip or plan a vacation or actually call on the phone and keep those relationships alive.
And to all of you who’ve been there and continue to be there in big and small ways, thank you. I love you. And I’m lucky to have you.
PS – I have to make a big shout out to my wife for being awesome. Planning a wonderful day, baking, taking care of our boys, and celebrating with me this milestone birthday. I love you so much. And that scone cake was incredible just like you.
