Kady’s grandfather once showed me how to prune roses. He was ruthless. He’d point at something and say “that’s just junk. Get rid of it.” We’d prune until the bush was a fraction of what it was. But low and behold the next year it would be full of roses.
It might feel harsh to cull the unnecessary “junk” from our lives. It’s easy to rationalize hanging on to it just a little longer. But in the end it’s not really serving us well. Holding on to junk doesn’t help us grow and flourish.
Sometimes you’ve got to make some drastic cuts in order to allow yourself to blossom.
