We all goes through difficult things in life. Trials and tribulations. Worry. Stress. Sadness. Fear. Sometimes we are so immersed in the moment that we become narrowly focused on our own suffering. And sometimes the things we go through give us perspective. Reason to be grateful.
It’s important to acknowledge those moments. To understand when something is hard but not impossible. To see it as an adventure rather than a cross to bear.
We build stories in our heads that only add to the anxiety. But what if we approached hard things with a sense of curiosity and wonder instead? What could we learn about ourselves? Who could we become in the most difficult circumstances? How could we serve others? The ones who can’t serve themselves?
Maybe you’re turned off by the idea of a silver lining. And I’m not saying we should be grateful for pain and suffering. But maybe there’s a better way to spend our energy when faced with hardship. One that will help us learn, heal, and grow instead of lingering in our negative emotions.
All I know is that I’m grateful and I’m trying to be curious and strong in the face of uncertainty. I don’t always succeed. But I’m going to keep on trying. Because things could be a lot worse.
