Brilliant Or Bastard

You can be one or the other or both. It’s a choice. Contrary to what you might try to tell yourself, you’re in control of which one(s) you choose to be. You’re not possessed. You’re the reason for your brilliance and beauty and light as well as your buttheadeness and cruelty and impatience.

I’m not preaching. I’m saying this to myself and sharing it with you. I’m imperfect as we all are. And I struggle to be the best I can at all times. I fail a lot. And it weighs on me. And so I get up again and again and again and try to bring the light. I hope the good I’ve done in my life outweighs the bad when the scales are finally checked.

  1. It’s always encouraging to remind ourselves that even if the only purpose of the struggle is to be better that it’s choice we are lucky to have. Thank you for this reminder to exercise our choices and be accountable to them!
